I think I might be going to heavy on the flyes for a beginning exercise, because my bench has been standing still while my flye weights have been going up and up. Good post FCR.

for me when I do flyes I use the 30lbs and just let my chest pull the weights in.

Very smooth and controlled.

Then I went on to the other exersises.

Even Arnold only really used like 50lbs i think on his flyes and he has some of the best chest devlopment ever.

Flyes it is my opinion that you should focus more on mechanics then weight.

I'll tell you this though, I never would have flyes as my first excercise in my routine, and on top of that going very heavy. I would usually have it as my 2nd or 3rd excercise depending on what kind of routine I was doing. The reasoning on why I wouldn't do them as a starting excercise and go heavy, was due to it not really being a mass building excercise and I knew it would drain A LOT of my energy and wouldn't be able to lift the heavy weights for bench or incline presses.

try this routine out on your next chest day and see how it goes from there.

I'll give it a try...I've been doing all of these exercises on one day- I give chest it's own day. Thanks.

I'm actually gonna try this today. 20 mins sounds perfect to still make it to amateur night at the strip club.

I did the one and one-half squats with the 4 second static hold as recommended...Holy hell...probably the most nauseous I've ever felt on leg day ...Obviously I had to drop the weight down from my normal squat routine, so I admit feeling less manly, but it was easier on the knees and probably a better leg workout anyway. Thanks again to FCR, ill probably try most of what this author suggests at least once to see how it works and how it might add to my current routines. I also tried the 'Chest in Time', and it went pretty well...again, had to drop weight on the bench after starting out on dips, but its a tradeoff work making IMO. Same DOMS as usual the next day, but it cut about 30 minutes off of the workout. Shhhwing

Tried the shoulder routine and found that it ended up involving too much traps.

Anyone else find this?

I only use 35's or maybe try 40's on a heavy day for flyes, but I like doing them last, as a strethcing exercise and contraction concentration, I really focus on the down movement and stretch, then focus on center chest to pull them together and sqeeeze at the top juss like Arnie says to...I do pull overs afterward to finish up, total of one flat, one incline, one de4cline maybe, then the flyes and pull overs, thats my chest...:who:

yeah, I kinda had the same problem also, but it wasn't too bad. did you work your back the same day?

Instead of doing the lateral static holds, I kinda switched it too front static holds. Holy shit, you want to talk about pain? damn, it had me dropping to weights I never thought i'd use!

the only problem I have is trying to find a routine with these workouts. I've been doing something like this:

Sun: Chest/Legs/Abs
Mon: cardio
Tue: Back/Traps/Bi's
Wed: cardio
Thu: Delts/Tri's/Abs
Fri: cardio or rest
Sat: rest

it seems ok to me, and has worked fine so far this week, but I may tweak it later on. just not sure yet. what are you guys doing, routine wise?
