I like Crossfit. I use a lot of their workouts, or adaptations of, for my training. I know a guy who built a crossfit gym in his garage and personal trains people that way.

I already have a few clients i train at my house with sandbags and weighted shovels.

people seem to love the difference from a traditional gym.

It is relatively inexpensive

Hey,

I'm just home from college and was looking into putting a home gym in my garage, but it seems like the kind of equipment I'll want will add up in $$$ really fast. I rarely use anything complicated in my workouts...but I want equipment that is going to last and can handle heavy weights. The basics that I'm looking at are a power-rack, adjustable bench, and some sort of pulley set-up. I already have an Olympic bar/weights and dumbbells...I was thinking this might be a cost effective alternative to gym membership, plus the incredible convenience...but everything I'm looking at is coming in at a minimum or 700 dollars or so. Here's a link or two of some of the better deals I've found so far...Let me know what you guys think...thanks.

(I like the pulley set-up on this one)

Thanks again,

Condor

That Body Solid rack (the second one) is good bang for the buck. I'm lead tech for a company that services and installs fitness equipment so I've seen hundred of them. Body Solid is actually a high-end company. Some of their stuff kind of sucks, but the rack is good and it's lifetime warranty on everything. With the pulley attachment you can do anything you'd ever want (has a pullup bar too). Maybe a vertical knee raise statio n would be nice too for dips and shit. If you got any questions about shit let me know cuz I deal with this stuff for a living.
