Injury recovery

hey guys,
havent posted much yet so i apologize, i have been dealing with this damn injury for months and it complicates even the simplest task. So in october of 2007 i herniated 2 disks in my low back at work. i realize how much muscle waisting has already happened so whats done is done but im just now financialy in a position to treat this medicinaly. just curious for opinions as to what would be best to prevent any further loss and hopefuly, (crosses fingers), rebuild some muscle i have lost. thanks for your input

yeah still gives me a lot of shit still. scheduled for surgery on the 2nd of september, the doc is at least honest in syaing theres at best a 50/50 chance for ANY improvement lol. I just started lifting at all. anything seated as long as it isnt extreme weight is ok. Lying flat can sometimes cause alot of pain or spasms but it isnt frequent. For some reason I am better with dumbells than a bar, not real sure why lol. I am benching significantly less but I can.
